The March Quarterly Update.
Community The March Quarterly Communication was held on Wednesday 5th of March at the Ann St Temple.

The meeting was attend by approximately 250 Brethren from around the state. Attending also were two Brothers one from Ohio and the other from the Philippines.

The Grand Master was in fine form adding a few comments to lighten the evening here and there. During the evening the Grand Master announced that Wor Bro Col Mander PSGW will be installed as Assistant Grand Master at the July Proclamation.

During the evening a vote was conducted for the Positions of Grand Steward. A 36 year old Wor Bro from Tibrogargan Lodge was successful in securing one of the 2 positions available.

The current QLD Institute of Medical Research project to raise $300000 is going slowly and the Grand Master reminded everyone that the fund raising is just under $70000. He also asked the Brethren to continue in there efforts to raise the funds needed.

In temple news, the South Port temple is to have its title given to grand lodge. The new temple in Roma is now having the internal plastering completed and the air conditioning fitted. It is hoped that the new temple will be completed by June in time for the Maranoa Installation.

Other big news for Country brethren and Roma in particular was the Grand Masters announcement that the March 09 Quartely Communication will be held in Roma.

Overall a fairly quiet quarterly communication, the meeting and festive were over by 11pm.

Quarterly Report
Community The Quarterly Communication held at Ann St Temple last had an attendance of approximately 250 Brethren. Overall the meeting went very smoothly, the board of General purpose having now implemented a festive board that included hot finger foods seemed to be very popular. The meeting was attended by the current Grand Team, 4 PGM's and a PGM from Canada.

Most notable report came from the Grand Treasurer, who released the figures that the current attrition rate of members in Queensland is 470 per year. He also noted that as of the 5th of December there are 10037 brethren in Queensland. His financial report also included the comments that all other Masonic centers owned by Grand Lodge returned a small profit of just under $10000, while the Ann St building had incured a loss of over $160000. From the current figures produced the loss incurred from the Ann St Temple is at this time sustainable and more effort will be put into finding ways to make Ann St more sustainable on its own merits.

It was also noted that while the loss may seem large, it would cost a similar amount to lease a building to house the Grand Secretariat office and library.

GM places Corner Stone at Roma
Community The Most Worshipful Grand Master laid the official corner stone for a new Lodge Temple in Roma(CQ) yesterday morning.
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

The Lodges of Roma in central Queensland have now officially started on the new building which is being purpose built for the lodges of the town and surrounding district.

The original lodge building was built with 2 separate halves, 2 years ago local council offered to lease the unused half with an option to buy the entire building.
This deal has been very good for the lodges and has now allowed them to move forward, plan and build a much needed newer more modern temple.

Under current and past leadership within the lodge, Freemasonry in Roma has begun to flourish and this temple is a direct result of their hard work.

The new temple will completed in early to mid 2008.

A Great BBQ
Community The social BBQ held at South Bank was a fantastic night. With perfect weather and excellent company at the South Bank, the night went off without a hitch.

At the end of the evening there were smiles all round and this being the first event with the children attending made it all the better. Brother David even had a chance to buy a fur coat but we will leave that story to the forums.
